·Children are engaged in more activities that require a lot of movement which include various upper and lower muscles when at play.
·They can hop on one foot and move quickly from one spot to the next.
·Having the ability to bounce to bounce various size balls can be a challenge but they are eager to try and continue to practice until the tasked is accomplished.
·Some children at this age main goal are to ride a tricycle or even a bike with training wheels which would require an increasing coordination of large motor skills.
Cognitive Milestones:
·They are able to follow small directions to complete a task.
·The grouping of objects become more understandable by color, shape or size
·Counting in order and begin to learn number concept.
·Comparison of objects such as big, small, sound such as loud and soft.
Language Milestones:
·Engage in peer communication and pretend play.
·Able to identify written words with objects.
·Reading words from short story books by the identification of pictures or familiar stories heard before.
·Vocabulary of words are built through songs and asking questions.
·Problem solving by talking things out and coming up with solutions.
Atypical Development
·Not able to speak in complete sentence structure.
·Have trouble keeping focus on a task.
Family Influences:
·Allow them to help with setting rules.
·Give responsibility of chores within the home.
·Give praise and words of encouragement to let them know they can achieve difficult tasks if they work hard at it or ask for help.
